WHAT IS THE DELTA ?

The DELTA is Cambridge’s Diploma-level course in teaching English to speakers of other languages. At OfQual Level 7 (the official body for educational standards in England and Wales), the DELTA is considered in the UK to be a Masters level course.

​​WHY APPLY FOR DELTA?

If you are an experienced teacher who wants to take their teaching to the next level, the DELTA is for you. It is an internationally recognized diploma that opens the door to opportunities in educational management, teacher training, and prestigious teaching positions worldwide.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO APPLY?

You are eligible to take the course if you are at least 20 years of age, have a C1 level in English, and have at least one year of teaching experience. 

To enroll in the DELTA course, you must complete an application process that includes a Language and Teaching Awareness Task, followed by a Zoom interview with the lead course tutor. During the interview, the tutor will assess your eligibility and confirm whether you are ready to begin the DELTA course.

COURSE FORMAT

​The three modules of the DELTA are assessed independently and can be taken online in any order. However, many candidates choose to begin with Module 1.

Module 1

Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources for Teaching

This module focuses on extending and developing candidates’ knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning English in a range of contexts.

 

Module 2

Developing Professional Practice

Build expertise in teaching English across diverse contexts through four assessed lessons and assignments. Flexible format: available online or in person, anytime.

Module 3

Option 1: Extending Practice and ELT Specialism

Conduct an independent investigation to create a tailored course program.

Option 2: English Language Teaching Management

Perform a situational analysis and develop a change proposal, focusing on key areas of ELT management such as operations, HR, or strategy.
